Software People Stories: From consulting to code – And Saving Lives Along the Way
ReadyList CEO and Co-Founder Allen Cooper was recently featured on the Passionate Pioneers podcast, where he shared the story behind our mission: transforming hospital environmental services (EVS) through purpose-built technology that empowers the people who keep healthcare facilities safe, clean, and operational.
Leading with Empathy and Accountability
Allen spoke about the ReadyList philosophy of hands-on leadership. From day one, he’s worked alongside the very EVS teams we serve—earning certifications with them and ensuring our entire team engages directly with implementation sites. That proximity to the frontline helps us design software that’s intuitive, effective, and built around the real challenges these teams face every day.
Proven Gains in Hospital Efficiency
One highlight of the conversation was the tangible impact ReadyList is making. In hospitals using our platform, discharge cleaning times have dropped from 60–75 minutes to just 45 minutes, all while maintaining strict quality standards. By digitizing workflows and providing clear protocols, we help EVS teams operate with greater clarity, speed, and confidence.
Tools That Give a Voice to the Underserved
Allen also discussed our Rapid Service Responder, a ReadyList feature that lets patients report cleaning needs directly to EVS teams via QR code—bypassing inefficient communication channels. It’s one example of how thoughtful technology can improve responsiveness and elevate the essential work of EVS staff.
Building with End-Users in Mind
A key takeaway from the episode was our commitment to validating features before building them. Early on, we learned the hard way that even well-intentioned features can go unused if they’re not built in partnership with end-users. That’s why we now co-create every new module with multiple clients, ensuring relevance and adoption.
