A few highlights from the podcast
So what would you say um is Ancilla Ventures driving force like what what do you do for your clients and and how do you help them?
Allen: Yeah I mean ultimately we provide a software technology that’s the outcome if you will that’s the how and the what is the why is I personally just like uh helping people you know, one of our logos is evolving people through technology. That’s kind of the thing that I like to do is I feel like whatever we can do to help elevate everyone’s game is kind of what excites me so I like teaching. So we’re very much a learning organization and um from my standpoint I like to kind of hire individuals that want to kind of expand who they are today and kind of coach them through it so that’s been always inspirational for me. I get excited about it and get people excited to do it
What advice would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs people that are thinking about making the jump to do their own thing?
Allen: Yeah that’s a good question for me it’s to make sure you as an entrepreneur truly understand your why. Personally like for me um I don’t think I really understood that until like four years ago when we rebranded and it used to be called Ancilla partners and now it’s Ancilla Ventures and I needed to understand what was my, what was my personal why and if I couldn’t figure that out it’s really hard to be able to inspire your employees. It’s hard to create core values around that and it’s also hard to kind of sell in some ways if you don’t truly understand your personal why. I did that exercise and um read some books to help get it out of me a little bit and um what I started to understand for myself is I just love helping people I love helping people. Well what does that really mean? I don’t know it means many things you know so for me kind of focusing on the industry and technology is what can we do to help out people evolve into a some somewhere better than they are today because I think we all have the rights and all deserve the rights to evolve as individuals and as people so for me that was kind of like my why so I think understanding your why is is critical and and that helps you understand doing everything for the right reasons. It can’t be driven just on money you know like there’s many ways of making money but if you’re an entrepreneur like that will happen once you do the other things that are right and I think starting with the why is what advice I would give.
